Cookie Policy

This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies we use on our website, and, just as importantly, the ones we don't.

What This Policy Covers

"Cookies" are small files a website can store on your device. "Local storage" is similar but not technically a cookie. Both are covered by the same UK law, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations ("PECR"), so we treat them the same way here.

What We Actually Use

We use exactly two things, and both exist purely to make the site work the way you'd expect:

• Session cookie (a cookie): keeps you logged in while you browse. This falls within the "strictly necessary" exemption under PECR, as it's required to deliver the account and login service you've asked for, so it does not need your consent.
• Shopping cart storage (browser local storage, not a cookie): remembers what's in your basket, whether you're a guest or logged in. This also falls within the "strictly necessary" exemption, as it's required to deliver the shopping cart feature you're actively using, so it does not need your consent either.

Nobody outside JeezMart receives this data, and it isn't used to track you across other sites or to build an advertising profile.

What We Don't Use

We do not use:

• Analytics cookies (such as Google Analytics or similar tools);
• Advertising or marketing cookies;
• Social media tracking pixels;
• Any cross-site or cross-device tracking technology;
• A cookie consent banner, because we don't need one (see below).

Why We Don't Need A Consent Banner

Under PECR, you only need to ask for consent before storing or accessing information on someone's device unless it falls within a narrow "strictly necessary" exemption, meaning the storage or access is genuinely required to deliver a service you've explicitly asked for, such as staying logged in or keeping items in your basket. Because everything we use falls squarely within that exemption, we're required to tell you about it, which this page does, but not to ask for your consent first.

If this ever changes, for example if we add analytics or advertising technology in the future, we will update this policy and add a proper consent mechanism before that technology goes live, not after.

How Long This Data Is Kept

The login session cookie expires automatically when your session ends or after a standard session timeout. Cart data is kept in your browser for a limited period to support your shopping experience.

Managing Or Clearing This Data Yourself

Because this is standard browser storage, you're always in control of it directly through your browser:

• Cookies: you can view, block, or delete cookies through your browser's settings, usually under Privacy or Security. Blocking the session cookie will simply log you out.
• Local storage (cart): clearing your browser's site data for our website will empty your saved cart. This is a normal browser feature, not something specific to us.

Third-Party Tools

Some third parties may set or use cookies or similar technologies when their services are used on the site, including Stripe for payments, Supabase for account and backend services, and Google OAuth where you choose to sign in with Google. Their use is governed by their own terms and privacy notices.

If This Changes

We keep this policy under review. If we introduce any new cookie, tracking pixel, or storage technology for analytics, marketing, or any other purpose, we will update this page and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent before it's switched on.
